2/26/2011

I saw XANADU for the third time at Barter Theatre last night.  But, for the first time in my three years here, I sat third row, center.  I usually sit in the balcony of the 500-seat space.

At the end of the first number, "I'm Alive!", I turned to see the women in my entourage staring at me.  I realized I had been staring at the stage with my mouth hanging wide open, like a child seeing theatre for the first time.  I closed my mouth and leaned over the seats with a giggle, quickly explaining away my gaping mouth by saying that I had never sat so close before.

Last night, I was sucked in and enveloped by the power of live performance.  What a treat!
