5th class of "Improve Your Improv" this afternoon.  Some great, inventive stories were told:

Fred wanted to buy a bazooka, but he didn't have a license.  So he went home and the License Fairy gave him a license but said that Fred had to marry her.  Fred followed her into a mirror where he found a bazooka made of solid gold, but filled on the inside with Bazooka bubble gum.  He decided to stay in the mirror and marry the License Fairy - they had 500 (!!!) kids.

At a bar in Tokyo, Toby Keith sang karaoke, then superglued the bartender's hands to a bar stool, punched a redneck in the face - a redneck who owned the bar in Tokyo - and ran away.

And in "Freaks on a Bus," a brother and a sister are headed to Barbados.  Brother gives sister a bikini, but it is covered in hot sauce.  Turns out, it was Brother's ex-girlfriend's bikini and she had a thing for hot sauce.

I LOVE these kids.

I saw XANADU for the third time at Barter Theatre last night.  But, for the first time in my three years here, I sat third row, center.  I usually sit in the balcony of the 500-seat space.

At the end of the first number, "I'm Alive!", I turned to see the women in my entourage staring at me.  I realized I had been staring at the stage with my mouth hanging wide open, like a child seeing theatre for the first time.  I closed my mouth and leaned over the seats with a giggle, quickly explaining away my gaping mouth by saying that I had never sat so close before.

Last night, I was sucked in and enveloped by the power of live performance.  What a treat!

"What blood and sorrow, what good ships scuttled on the deep, what brave men walking the plank blindfold, what shot of cannon, what same and lies and cruelty..."

The last preview of TREASURE ISLAND promises to be very exciting - after a 5 1/2 hour rehearsal yesterday of internal line cuts, new light cues, pacing work, and lots of notes, who know wha' could 'appen, matey?

Taught my 4th week of "Improve Your Improv" class for middle schoolers.  Stories told included a man riding the ferris wheel at a carnival, throwing up at the very top, driving home, crying, and throwing up again; also, a floating number splits in two on a movie set and Hannah Montana pushes Justin Bieber from the top of the Washington Monument.  Don't worry... he survived.

First preview of TREASURE ISLAND - a morning matinee!  As assistant director, I also serve as line note extraordinaire!
